I talk to people of all different income levels everyday that spend more than they make. In the end, this is a recipe for disaster, so what is a person to do?
The first thing I recommend is using a budget program to analyze where they are spending money. More often than not, surprises are revealed, and things like eating out are more common than one would think.
Second, stop unnecessary spending. Look at recurring monthly charges and consider if you really need the company’s service. I’ve seen some instances where monthly subscriptions total $1k or more.
Third, shop around for services that you need. You may be surprised and find that you weren’t getting such a great deal after all.
Lastly, if you are in sales and it’s slow certain times a year, set money aside to fill the gaps. The goal is to make it through the dark tunnel to actually see the light at the end.
